Description

The invention relates to a temperature-dependent switch for opening and closing a circuit as a function of the temperature of a bimetal part, with an electrically conductive housing part which has an underside, an electrically conductive cover part for closing the housing part, an insulating washer arranged between the housing part and the cover part, which the housing part electrically opposite the cover part insulated, and a switching mechanism arranged in the housing part, which, depending on the temperature of the bimetal part, makes or opens an electrical contact between the housing part and the cover part, the circuit being connectable on the one hand to the cover part and on the other hand to the housing part.

Such temperature-dependent switches are known from practice.

The known switches are used to monitor the temperature of a device. For this purpose, for example, they are brought into contact with the winding of a motor via their underside, so that the temperature of the winding influences the temperature of the bimetal part. If the switching temperature is exceeded, the switch mechanism opens the connection between the cover part and the housing part and the circuit above it is interrupted. If the temperature drops, the circuit is closed again, although this does not necessarily have to be the case; bistable temperature-dependent switches are also known.

The known switches are usually assembled with connecting leads, which are soldered on the one hand to the cover part and on the other hand to an edge of the housing part. The bottom of the housing part is not available for connecting a stranded wire because this would hinder the temperature transition to the monitored device. But even in such switches in which the underside of the housing part is not in direct contact with a monitored device, a connection on the underside of the housing part is undesirable because this would lead to a greater height of the temperature-dependent switch.

As a rule, the cover part is inserted into the housing part and the raised edge of the housing part is flanged so that it clamps the cover part firmly. The stranded wire which makes contact with the housing part is then soldered to this flanged edge. The second lead is soldered directly onto the cover part.

It is disadvantageous here that automatic soldering machines must be used, which are expensive and slow.

The manufacture of such a switch takes place in such a way that the switching mechanism is first placed in the housing part before the insulating washer is then placed on the housing part and is pressed into it with the aid of the cover part. It happens again and again that the insulating washer slips, so that no reliable insulation between the housing part and the cover part is achieved. This production can lead to rejects.

Some of the processes described so far are still carried out manually or semi-automatically, so that the manufacture and assembly of the known temperature-dependent switches are labor-intensive and therefore cost-intensive.

A similar temperature-dependent switch is known from DE-OS 21 21 802, which has a two-part housing. In this switch, a connection tab is provided on the cover part and on the housing part, which is possible there because of the two-part housing. For this purpose, the upper housing part overlapping the lower housing part is provided with a recess in its peripheral edge through which the connecting lug of the lower housing part extends outwards. This leads to the fact that both housing parts are complicated stamped parts, which are not pressure stable due to the recess, among other things.

In contrast, the generic switch has the advantage that the cover part is inserted into a housing part, which leads to greater pressure stability, but has the disadvantage that the leads must be soldered.

In this known switch, too, the insulating washer is placed separately from the upper housing part, so that the insulating washer, which has a very low weight, can easily slip during manufacture.

In the known switch, the switching mechanism has a spring washer, into which a contact part is inserted, which comes into contact with the upper housing part. A bimetallic snap disk is placed over the spring washer, which is accommodated in the housing without forces below the switching temperature. The current flows through the conductive upper housing part, the contact part, the spring washer and the lower housing part, on which the spring washer is supported. If the switching temperature is exceeded, the bimetallic snap disk snaps and presses the spring washer with its contact away from the upper housing part.

The contact part is provided with a ring, via which it is clamped between the spring washer and the bimetallic snap disk. The contact part must be inserted, so to speak, "loosely" so that no mechanical stresses or forces are exerted on the spring washer, which would otherwise influence their movements.

Since the contact part is mounted separately, there are always problems with jamming contact parts with this switch, which also leads to rejects in production. Starting from this prior art, it is an object of the present invention to further develop the switch mentioned at the outset in such a way that, with the switch being as small as possible, its manufacture and any necessary assembly with connecting strands are carried out more quickly, more cheaply and more reliably than in the prior art.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in the case of the temperature-dependent switch mentioned at the outset in that the housing part is provided with an outer shoulder set back relative to the underside.

The object underlying the invention is completely achieved in this way. A stranded wire can now be connected to this shoulder, which is set back relative to the underside, without this influencing the overall height or the temperature contact possibly made via the underside of the housing part. The wire can now not only on the cover part but also on the shoulder e.g. can be welded by electro spot welding, which is considerably faster than the soldering known from the prior art. Thus, the measure of providing the shoulder already leads to a significant improvement in the manufacture and assembly of the new temperature-dependent switches.

It is preferred if the switching mechanism comprises an electrically conductive spring washer, which works against the bimetal part depending on the temperature, is supported on the housing part and carries a contact part which, depending on the temperature of the bimetal part, is in contact arrives with the cover part and thus establishes the electrical contact between the housing part and the cover part, the bimetallic part preferably being a bimetallic snap disk.

The advantage here is that the switching mechanism known from DE-OS 21 21 802 is used, which has a low overall height. For further details of this rear derailleur, reference is made to the aforementioned publication, the content of which is hereby made the subject of the present application.

It is preferred if the contact part is preferably firmly attached to the spring washer by welding.

This measure is also isolated in the generic switch - that is, without a shoulder - that the manufacture of the new switch is simplified because the contact part is now firmly attached to the spring washer before assembly, so that it cannot slip during assembly . This not only increases the assembly speed, the scrap is also noticeably reduced.

Welding on is surprisingly possible without the spring washer being impaired in its movements.

It is further preferred if a connection lug is provided which is connected to the shoulder by its first end, preferably by welding, and whose second end, remote from the first end, serves as a connection.

Another advantage here is that because of the small thickness of the connecting lug, the shoulder only has to be set back slightly from the underside, which further reduces the overall height. The wire can then be welded to the second end of this terminal lug. Although two welding processes are required here to establish the connection between the strand and the housing part, this takes place overall in a considerably shorter time than that from the stand the soldering of the strand, known in the art, to the flanged edge of the housing part. Another advantage here is that the mechanical tensile strength in the new connection made via the connecting lug is considerably better than in the case of the soldered connection at the flanged edge.

It is then preferred if the shoulder is a circumferential ring shoulder and the first end of the connecting lug is annular.

This makes production even easier, since no positioning work is required between the connecting lug and the housing part. Rather, the underside of the housing part is inserted into the annular end in such a way that it rests on the shoulder, that is to say it is automatically centered.

It is then preferred if the connecting lug is angled such that its second end is set back relative to the shoulder.

This has the effect that the prefabricated switch advantageously has a low overall height, since the connecting lug and the wire do not project above or below the switch.

It is further preferred if a further connection lug is provided, which is connected to the cover part by its first end, preferably by welding, and whose second end, remote from the first end, serves as a connection.

This has the same advantages as with the first connection lug, the overall height of the switch is reduced again. Now only the connecting lug, which has a very small thickness, has to be welded onto the cover part, while the stranded wire can be welded outside the contour of the switch in order to enable connection to the circuit.

It is preferred if the further terminal lug is angled such that its second end is set back from the first end.

This also has the same advantage as with the first connecting lug, the overall height is reduced even further, since the connecting lugs and the strands welded to them do not protrude the switch in height. This also makes assembly easier, since the two second ends of the two connecting lugs, which are offset radially from one another, lie side by side in one plane, so that the strands can be fed in next to one another and welded on. This brings with it a considerable time advantage, especially since automatic welding machines are used which are not only cheaper than the automatic soldering machines known from the prior art, but also work considerably faster, that is to say have a higher throughput.

It is further preferred if the two connecting lugs are stamped parts, preferably made of sheet metal.

The advantage here is that the connecting lugs themselves can be produced quickly and inexpensively, so that the overall costs for the manufacture and assembly of the new switch are significantly reduced compared to the prior art.

Overall, it is preferred if the housing part is a deep-drawn housing part.

Such a deep-drawn housing part is very inexpensive to manufacture, so that the overall costs in the manufacture of the new switch are advantageously reduced.

It is further preferred if a mating contact for the contact part is provided in the cover part.

The advantage here is that a low contact resistance between the spring washer and the cover part is made possible in an inexpensive and simple manner.

It is further preferred if the second terminal lug and the mating contact are welded on in one operation.

It is also advantageous here that two fastenings take place in a single step, so that the time required for production is reduced.

Overall, it is further preferred if the insulating washer is already fixed to the cover part before the switch is assembled.

Even with a generic switch, ie without the new shoulder, this has the considerable advantage that no positioning between the insulating washer and the cover part is necessary during the manufacture of the switch. Since the insulating pane can no longer slip, not only is the failure rate reduced, it is also largely possible to dispense with human assistants during production, so that production can be carried out significantly more quickly and inexpensively. That is already a generic switch without the new shoulder faster and easier to manufacture, so that this also solves the aforementioned problem in isolation.

It is then preferred if the insulating disk is glued to the cover part at least in sections.

This gluing can be followed in several ways, on the one hand the cover part and the insulating washer can first be manufactured separately and then glued together. On the other hand, it is also possible to first manufacture the cover parts, and then stick them in rows and columns on an insulating paper and then punch it out, during which stamping process it is ensured that the insulating washers have a larger diameter than the cover parts. Furthermore, either before or during this punching process, the required center hole can be made in the insulating washer, through which the contact part of the spring washer can come into contact with the cover part or the mating contact attached to it.

Finally, it is also possible to first glue together a sheet and insulating paper and then punch out and shape the contours of the insulating washer and cover part in one or two stamping and pressing steps.

The latter option, namely to first glue a sheet and an insulating paper to one another, has a surprising advantage in production, because not only does the positioning between the insulating washer and the cover part during assembly fall, but also the alignment when the insulating washer is previously fixed to the invention Cover part away.

Further features and advantages result from the description and the attached drawing.

It goes without saying that the features mentioned above and those yet to be explained below can be used not only in the respectively specified combinations but also in other combinations or on their own without departing from the scope of the present invention.

In Fig. 1, 10 is a temperature-dependent switch for temperature-dependent opening and closing of a circuit. The switch 10 comprises a housing part 12 which, with its underside 13, connects to a device (not shown in FIG. 1) or e.g. the excitation winding of a motor can be applied so that the temperature of the device or the motor influences the switching behavior of the switch in a manner to be described in more detail.

The housing part 12 has a raised edge 14 and essentially has a circular plan. Arranged in the interior of the housing part 12 is a switching mechanism 15 which, depending on the temperature of the monitored device, makes or opens an electrical contact between the housing part 12 and a cover part 16. An insulating disk 17 is arranged between the cover part 16 and the housing part 12 and electrically insulates the housing part 12 from the cover part 16.

It can be seen that the insulating washer 17 is folded up around the cover part 16 in FIG. 1 so that it insulates the cover part 16 along its entire circumference 18 from the edge 14. The inserted in the raised edge 14 cover part 16 and the insulating washer 17 are held in the housing part 12 in that the edge 14 is flanged at its upper end 19. In this way, the switching mechanism 15 is tightly received in the switch 10, an edge region 20 of the insulating disk 17 projecting upward.

The switching mechanism 15 comprises a spring washer 21 to which a contact part 22 is welded. In the switching state shown in FIG. 1, this contact part 22 extends through a central hole 23 in the insulating disk 17 to a mating contact 24 which is welded to the cover part 16 on the inside. The spring washer 21 presses the contact part 22 against the counter contact 24 and thus ensures a low contact resistance between these two contacts. The spring washer 21, on the other hand, is supported in the interior of the housing part 12 on a circumferential bead 25. Since both the housing part 12, as well as the cover part 16 and the spring washer 17 are made of electrically conductive material, the switching mechanism 15 thus makes electrical contact between the housing part 12 and the cover part 16.

A bimetallic part 26 is arranged between the spring washer 21 and the insulating washer 17, which is here a bimetallic snap disc 27 which likewise has a central hole through which the contact part 22 extends.

In the position shown in Fig. 1, the bimetallic snap disk 27 is without power, the switching temperature has not yet been reached. If the temperature of the monitored device increases, this will e.g. transmitted via the bottom 13 or via the connections. This also increases the temperature of the bimetallic snap disk 27, so that it snaps and presses the spring washer 21 downward in FIG. 1, so that the contact part 22 is released from the mating contact 24 and opens the electrical contact between the housing part 12 and the cover part 16.

The switch 10 described so far is provided with connecting leads 31, of which only the connecting lead 31 a is shown in FIG. 1, which has its stripped end 32 on the cover part 16 is welded on. The contact to the housing part 12 takes place via a connecting lug 33 which is ring-shaped at one end 34. With this annular end 34, the connecting lug 33 is supported on an outer circumferential shoulder 35 of the housing part 12, which is set back relative to the underside 13. The extent of the shoulder 35 being set back and the thickness of the connecting lug 33 are selected such that the connecting lug 33 does not protrude downward beyond the housing part 12 in the region of its annular end 34. In this way, a low overall height is made possible and, on the other hand, the underside 13, if desired, can be supported directly on the device to be monitored, which ensures good heat transfer.

An diesem zweiten Ende 36 ist die in Fig. 1 nicht erkennbare weitere Anschlußlitze befestigt.1 that the first connecting lug 33 is angled such that its second end 36, which is remote from the first end 34, is set back relative to the shoulder 35. At this second end 36, the further connecting cord, which cannot be seen in FIG.

In a further embodiment, FIG. 2 shows a temperature-dependent switch 10 ', in which the connection to the cover part 12 also takes place via a further connecting lug 38. The second connecting lug 38 is welded with its first end 39 to the outside of the cover part 16 and further angled such that its second end 40, which is remote from the first end 39, is set back in relation to the first end 39 in FIG. 2. The arrangement is such that the second end 40 of the second connecting lug 38 is radially offset, but is approximately at the same height as the second end 36 of the first connecting lug 33.

Only the center hole 23 of the insulating disk 17 is made larger in the switch 10' than in the switch 10.

The switches 10, 10 'are manufactured in such a way that the housing part 12 is first produced by deep drawing, which is very inexpensive. Furthermore, the contact part 22 is welded onto the spring washer 21. Furthermore, the first terminal lug 33 is welded to the housing part 12. Then the spring washer 21 and the bimetallic snap disk 27 are inserted into the housing part 12.

The cover part 12, to which the insulating washer 17 is glued in a manner to be described in more detail, is first provided with the mating contact 24 and the second connecting lug 38 before it is pressed into the housing part 12. Thereafter, the raised edge 14 is flanged at its upper end 19, whereupon the manufacture of the switches 10, 10 'has ended.

Of course, it is also possible to subsequently weld the connecting lugs 33, 38. In the case of the switch 10, the connecting wire 31a is welded on instead of the second connecting lug 38.

After the switch 10 'has just been manufactured, the connecting leads 31 are welded onto the second ends 36 and 40 of the connecting lugs 33 and 38, respectively. This welding takes place outside the outline contour of the switch 10 'and can be implemented in a simple, quick and inexpensive manner by welding, preferably by means of electric spot welding.

The assembly of the switches 10, 10 ′ is carried out by the insulating disk 17 fixed to the cover part 16 prior to production and by the contact part 22 attached to the spring washer 21. very simple, no complex positioning is required. Because all fastenings can be produced by welding, not only the manufacture, but also the assembly with connecting leads 31 can be carried out simply, quickly and inexpensively.

In Fig. 3 the switch 10 of Fig. 1 is shown in a plan view from above, so that in addition to the connecting wire 31a, the connecting wire 31b can be seen, which is welded with its stripped end 32b to the second end 36 of the first connecting lug 33 .

Fig. 4 zeigt den Schalter 10' aus Fig. 2 in einer Draufsicht, wobei hier die angeschweißten Anschlußlitzen 31a und 31b gezeigt sind.FIG. 4 shows the switch 10 'from FIG. 2 in a top view, the welded connecting leads 31a and 31b being shown here.

Fig. 5 ist nur eine ausschnittsweise Darstellung, der Transportsteg 43 verlängert sich in Fig. 5 nach oben und nach unten und trägt dort weitere Anschlußfahnen 33 und 39.Fig. 5 shows the first terminal lug 33 and the second terminal lug 38, which are manufactured as inexpensive stamped parts, preferably made of sheet metal. The connecting lugs 33 and 38 are connected via connecting webs 41 and 42 to a transport web 43 in which transport holes 44 are provided. 5 is only a partial illustration, the transport web 43 is extended upwards and downwards in FIG. 5 and carries further connecting lugs 33 and 39 there.

Finally, it will be explained with reference to FIGS. 6 and 7 how the fixing between the cover part 16 and the insulating disk 17 takes place. For this purpose, a sheet 48 of insulating material is glued onto a sheet 47, as shown in FIG. 6. The web 38 already has the later center holes 23. These center holes 23 are arranged in rows and columns.

Dieser Randbereich 20 klappt beim Einbringen des Deckelteiles 16 in das Gehäuseteil 12 nach oben und sorgt für die seitliche Isolierung zwischen Deckelteil 16 und Gehäuseteil 12.Thereupon, the sheet metal 47 with the sheet 48 glued thereon is further processed in a pressing and stamping process with a controlled depth of cut, so that the cover part 16 shown in FIG. 7 with the insulating disk 17 adhered thereto is produced. In Fig. 7 it can be seen that the insulating disc 17 with its edge region 20 protrudes beyond the circumference 18 of the cover part 16. This edge region 20 folds upwards when the cover part 16 is introduced into the housing part 12 and ensures the lateral insulation between the cover part 16 and the housing part 12.

In this simple manner, a cover part 16 with an insulating disk 17 adhered to it is produced, which is of great advantage when the switches 10, 10 ′ are installed, since the insulating disk 17 cannot slip relative to the cover part 16.
